Review: Walaku @ 102 Joo Chiat Road Road

A visit was made on Thursday 4 January 2021 at 7.30pm.

There were 3 of us. I ordered Kentang Ball $8.50, wife tried their Nasi Goreng Kerabu with Ayam Percik $14 and son enjoyed their Moza Leleh Burger $16. All 3 taste great so you wouldnt mind the price. The presentation will whet your appetite and the portion will leave you filling full. The food is definitely fine-chef material therefore the preparation time is worth the wait. We tried the Thai Milk Tea Cold $4 and it tastes authentically Thai indeed. We ended the visit with Strawberry Cheese Cake (gelato) at $3.80. This was my 2nd visit there and it looks like I will be coming back for more.

Branding and Customer Experience

Yes it is a unique brand name - Walaku. At first instance it sounds foreign to me (either Hawaiian or Japanese). On second thought it sounds colloquial (like Wa Laku = I am sellable). But either way, this is a joint to impress your dining partner. Good ambiance with a capacity of just 20 pax for a comfortable full house. Good service too. I remember when my Kentang Ball soup outran the ball, they were able to prepare for me another ball of soup upon request. How nice. Place is easy to find too. Just about 70m after Hjh Maimunah, opposite Evertop, before Masjid Khalid.
