It just took 3 months since restrictions were introduced in  March 2020 for F&B outlets to start closing in June. And according to a MSN online news portal, a survey reported that 42 per cent of restaurants, or about two in five, said they would not be able to operate beyond two months at the current rate of cost and revenue, while 81 per cent said they cannot survive beyond six months.

Which means now that we are entering the 10 month of restrictions (look increasing 5 pax dining per table to 8 pax under phase 3 is not a significant change), more F&B outlets are bleeding to death with many more  already dead from the last list compiled below (as of June 2020):

Permanently Closed:

  • High Steaks

  • Breko Cafe

  • The Chophouse

  • Hops & Berries

  • Long Time Ago

  • Meats N Malts

  • Purple Turtle

  • Chi Kinjo

  • Lounge 7

  • The Botanic Restaurant

  • Miss Chinatown

  • 7th Mile Seafood

  • Isetan Japan Food Town @ Wisma Atria

  • La Cantina in Venezia

  • Ministry of Food

  • Oromo Coffee

  • Spice World Hotpot

  • Tian Wei Seafood Zi Char Restaurant

  • Kuishin Bo

  • Jok Jok Mor Traditional Thai

  • SG Pho House

  • Coffee Break @ Singapore Science Park (outlets at Hong Lim and Amoy Street Food Centre still open)

  • Chinadoll

Temporarily Closed:

  • Five Bar

  • Salt Grill & Sky Bar

  • Peppercorn (lease has ended, they will be “taking a break” for a few months during this circuit breaker period)

  • Hashida Sushi

More than 6 more later and exceeding the 8 months of threshold as stated by many F&B owners, it means the list has grown. And with God knows how long more are we going to live under Phase 3, the future truly looks uncertain and bleak for many in terms of both recovery and sustaining.

Our wishes that those able to survive will continue to do so so that all of us would have places to go to.

Now if you know of any other F&B outlet (not in the list above) that has gone under, do leave a note in the comment section below (remember to register first if you have not done so).
