Review: Nasi Goreng Kampung

A visit was made on Wednesday 6 January 2021 at 6.30pm at Causeway Point Bagus foodcourt Level 7

Noticing the signage promoting a new item - Nasi Goreng Kampung at $5.50 I decided to give it a try. Probably because I happened to be the only person making an order, the Nasi Goreng Kampung was prepared faster than I could cook a maggie. I was quite surprised almost like warming up a pre-cooked meal timing. Nonetheless the food taste freshly cooked. With egg topping, the price of $5.50 (cheaper if you have the Kopitiam cashcard) seems decent. Taste wise, I have tasted better elsewhere before. I would say the quality and quantity to be good for the value you paid for. No regret i trying it in fact, I finish the entire meal. Just that the experience wouldn't be sufficient to find myself craving for a return.

Branding and Customer Experience

The Bagus foodcourt was a lot better before the renovation in 2019. Back then, the stalls were all occupied and the variety was better. Being a Woodlander, Bagus was a convenient makan place as I always have things to buy and errands to run at the mall. But the Bagus of today is no longer 'bagus'. 2 stalls were empty. The stall that used to sell Indian food with great briyani and the first stall next to the drink counter are vacant. Now if you have a foodcourt without an Indian foodstall, you cannot call it a foodcourt. The Malay nasi padang stall strangely wasn't operating at time of visit either. The renovation serves little if the variety is not there or that the stalls are not fully operational. The place is usually crowded only because it is the only halal foodcourt in the mall. So it is a convenient go-to makan site with generous seating capacity. Not for any other reason.
